Under 5’s Wintry Adventure !
Bolton Libraries & Museums Service 2022
The Brief
We were recommended to Bolton Libraries & Museums Service by our friends at The Smithills Estate. The Libraries service had benefited from Culture Recovery funding and were planning a programme of outdoor events for Under 5s and their families at Smithills Hall – could we adapt our existing adventures to create something specially for that audience?
What We Did
Our approach was to collaborate with those of our practitioners who were skilled in both workshop creation and non-verbal audiences to design a brand new adventure which utilised both the indoor and outdoor spaces at Smithills. Using simple Makaton, music and making activities our Wintry Adventure encouraged imaginative play outdoors even in colder weather – and our young audiences dressed the trees for Winter as well as helping to plant for a Summer harvest.
The Result
The event was delivered over several days at Smithills Hall in February and March 2022 and received excellent feedback from audiences
