Surprise Encounters with Father Christmas

The Brief

During Spring 2020, we were asked by event company, Culture Creative, to work with them on their high profile Illuminated Trails for Raymond Gubbay and Sony Music.  The trails were going ahead, despite ever-changing Covid restrictions – could we provide safe outdoor interactions with Father Christmas?

What We Did

We worked with the event teams at three stunning locations – Kew Gardens, London, Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire and Belton House for the National Trust.  We designed joyful surprise encounters in which audiences stumbled across Father Christmas enjoying a break from his busy schedule and soaking up the delights and ambience of the trail – key was maximising audience enjoyment whilst also keeping audience flow and dwell time to a minimum to ensure audience safety.

The Result

With teams of professional actors skilfully managing delivery to ensure a consistent presence for visitors across the whole evening we successfully delivered our Surprise Encounters to audiences for in between 25 – 30 nights at each venue, surpassing audience expectation and – for some families – providing their only opportunity to meet with Father Christmas that year.
